Environments

Android · Linux · macOS · Windows Beta

Keep environment variables in your vault and hand them to local tools on demand.

Environments keep the variables of your projects, such as API keys and database URLs, in your vault instead of in plaintext .env files. A variable can hold a value or point to the password of another item, so a changed password reaches every project that uses it.

Keyguard hands the values to your tools when they need them: as a local .env file that is never written to disk, or by starting a command with keyguard run. Through MCP, coding agents can manage environments without receiving the values. You approve each request.
