Getting started

Welcome to Keyguard! This guide walks you through installing the app and connecting your first vault.

1. Install the app

Pick your platform on the Download page. Android & Wear OS, Linux, Mac OS and Windows are supported.

2. Create local vault

Choose an app password - it locks everything Keyguard keeps on this device and create the local vault. App password is different from your Bitwarden/KDBX password.

3. Add an account

Keyguard is a client for the Bitwarden platform and for KeePass (KDBX) files:

• sign in to a Bitwarden or self-hosted Vaultwarden server, or
• open a local .kdbx database.

4. Unlock and explore

After unlocking, your items appear instantly. Try the search — it understands fields, folders, and tags — then open watchtower to see the health of your vault at a glance. Next: set up autofill on Android, read about security, or setup automatic backups.
